Hi all,
TL;DR: I'm standing down as GM for the next while, with Jay and Zesh taking the reins.
As I'm sure you're all aware, I've been less and less able to spend time in WoW over the last while. Initially I had hoped this would be a temporary thing, but as it went on I started to realise that I wasn't going to be able to dedicate as much time as I should to the game, and thus the guild. The reasons have been a combination of work pressures, timetable shifts and other real life requirements but the end result is me being unable to really fill the requirements of being a GM.
I've been with the guild for a loong time now, since WotLK days, and the guild and it's members have been the reason that I've stayed playing for so long as it is. The team that we've all put together over the years is fantastic and is proof that what we set out to do as a guild works - the fact that we have so many people that have stayed with us long term is a rarity as far as WoW guilds go. The reputation of War Machine on the server is solid thanks to all of you - without everyone contributing to what we're about we would have failed a long time ago.
So with all that in mind, I've made the decision (which I should have made a long time ago, really) to step down as GM. We discussed this at length within the officer core (and a few of you will already be aware of this too) as to the steps forward from here, and we came to a decision that Jay and Zesh would take over the role of GM shared between them. Unfortunately Blizzard only allows us to set one GM within the game so I've passed it to Jay for now, but consider both him and Zesh as on equal footing with regard to the role. They may alternate the rank between them like Bannox and I did back in the day but that's up to them as to how they do it.
I still intend to be around as much as I can (which is not much right now!) and hope to eventually return in a greater capacity. You'll be in fantastic hands with Jay and Zesh - they've been here a while too and I have 100% confidence in them taking over and keeping War Machine what it is.
So... yeah, that's me. Thanks for everything over the past howevermany years it's been and I look forward to getting back into it with you all once time permits. A special thanks to Bannox for really keeping things together while I was being slack about sorting myself out - he's really gone above what was expected of him in the role and it's been hugely appreciated.
Cheers!
