It's obvious that I am taking a break from WoW, but for how long, I dunno. I have found this expansion to be interesting, but a long grind. I am also finding that I can't keep up the pace required to be competitive. I know WM is not a "serious" raiding guild, but it's what I love to do and if I can't perform well, then it loses its shine.
I first joined WM when TBC was released. I was with about five others from my workplace (AFP) and we had a blast. Unfortunately, the then GM thought we'd become too much of a clique, so we parted company and sought other, high-end guilds. We eventually formed our own Guild when Naughty folded, and started on the Cata expansion. We sucked, and came back to WM, and I am the only one of our "clique" left (since Vialdrain retired after he established his Garrison).
I have often wondered whether I was a victim of peer pressure, because I was always the first PUG healer to be invited for WMs WotLK and Cata raids. Coming back for MOP was like coming home, and I have enjoyed my time here immensely. It was made more enjoyable by the extraordinary efforts of the Guild Officers, particularly Bannox and Zesh, who sorted out raid nights, assigned Loot, made calls on tactics that I continued to stuff up.
Dakhan and Bannox have upheld the WM ethic of a peerless, laid back approach to this game, and I applaud them for not wavering from this course. WM have never succumbed to rankings, a philosophy that escaped me early on. But I got better.
I have things to do and places to go since I retired over a year ago. I have one more car to build, and a heap more books to write. Rather than have all this time on my hands to play WoW, I am struggling to allocate anything to the grind, let alone signing up for raids. So I am calling it quits, and leaving with fond memories of all the friends I have made here without actually meeting them in RL.
Although there's one thing I have always lived by - Never Say Never!
