When Legion launched, so too did the add-on GnomeSequencerEnhanced (GSE). This was the project of an Australian developer, Timothy Luke, not the original developer of GS, but a GS Macro legend on WowLazyMacros. I have been using GS for all of WoD and it worked very well for me. I became quite adept at using other people's macros before I began to develop my own.
Among other great enhancements to the original, GSE has fixed the issue where you ended up with a rather large sequences file for all the sequences you developed for all your toons, their different specs and different situations. For my Priest, I had about seven Disc macros, for example. Obviously, the file became rather complicated, when you consider that, for example, I had to copy my main combat macro to take out the Purify spell for the Council encounter.
Well, GSE fixed all that by having the entire add-on and its scripts in the WoW UI, including a script editor (GSSE). In addition, all scripts are predicated with a specID, so you only see the macros that you have developed for your character, and for the spec you are currently in.
Another great enhancement is the add-on GS-HighPerformanceMacros available via the wowlazymacros.com/ web site. Here, users of the various macros vote to include the best of the best macros, and they are added to the add-on, which is then updated via your curse client, or however you manage your add-ons.
I developed all my macros for my own use, and using the editor makes this process so much easier! I can test out my macros on the Class Hall dummies, make adjustments on the fly, and, using the built in debugger, test and re-test until it's right.
Of course, I keep forgetting about taking Purify out for certain bosses, but rather than carry two macros (one with Purify and one without) I just click the editor and comment out the Purify cast.
There's a lot more to it, of course, but I have grown dependent on this add-on and my G13 keypad. I have always been a click-to-heal healer, and using the @mouseover function I am still doing my raid healing the same way since Vanilla, only better.
GSE is not for everyone, and despite the claims of "one button raid healing" it's impossible to do a good job with a single macro. Timing is still important, as is the question "to clip or not to clip?" which can only be decided by you, the player, and how well you know your class.
