Hi all,
I made an announcement last night that I want to let everyone know about. For the foreseeable future I will be stepping down as an Officer/Associate GM of War Machine. It’s been a huge privilege to be part of the inner workings of such a well respected guild. During my time as an officer I am always amazed at the reactions I get from candidates during the interview process when I explain how War Machine works. They are genuinely excited to be part of such a friendly group of people which probably explains why we have one of the lowest churn rates of players (you may join… but you’ll never leave!). However, it is now time for me to focus on things outside of World of Warcraft and as such I can’t guarantee my time as I once could. It would be remiss of me to hang on to a role I couldn’t fill to the fullest and so I believe this is the best option. I’ll still be here, raiding, doing challenge modes, keeping it real in the hood, etc… I just won’t be able to commit as I did before. And so I leave you in the very capable hands of Mr Dakhan of the Boston Hans.
In terms of Dakhan’s workload, while much of the guild is self managing there are still a few things that need doing that I know he would appreciate some help with down the track. While it’s certainly not critical to replace me as an officer if there is someone out there who really wants to put their hand up for this role please flick an in game mail to Dak and you guys can talk it out. The main responsibilities of an officer in our guild are as follows:
• Raid Leading (although not mutually exclusive)
• Interviews
• Guild events
• Fielding complaints
• Policy
Remember that the four main tenants of War Machine should always be upheld:
1. Inclusion – We involve the whole guild or we don’t do it (Challenge modes and progression runs are noted expectation exceptions however at any stage guildies have the power to shut these events down).
2. Communication – Be polite and friendly to one another. Not swearing. Keep the general channel chats professional.
3. Involvement – Get to know your neighbours. Sign up for events. Be part of the team
4. Complaints – Don’t bottle it up when you have an issue. Let the officers know as soon as possible so it can be dealt with as required.
Someone should definitely help with the interviews… we don’t want Dak to get halfway through one and say ‘Okay, let’s wipe it up… too many mistakes’. For those wanting to assist with this I’m sure Dak will let me know and we can go through an interview or two so you can get the feel of it. I’m also really keen to see some more people put their hands up for leading our awesome guys and girls through the raids.
In any case it has been a pleasure people and thanks for putting up with me. See you round the kicking stump!
