To select the best gear for you, try the following resources (1) www.maxdps.com - awesome for DPS classes (2) www.wow-loot.com/?gid=19352 [the class gear planner] - harder to use, but allows you to specify what attributes you value mroe highly, and uses that info in determining gear For stuff to do to your gear, look at www.wowgemfinder.com/cut_gems/listand for permanent, non-gem enhancements, see www.wowwiki.com/Enchantments_by_slot(unlike its name, its not just enchantments) (temporary gear enhancements are called imbues (like oils and poisons) - see www.wowwiki.com/Imbue for more info) be.imba.hu/ will audit where you are up to, and identify - items that are below your average (links to armory for selecting upgrades) - enchants that seem offspec - gems that should be upgraded (and missed socket bonuses) Other resources/tips/notes?

Without wanting to put a massive downer on this (and also offering a helpful alternative) I wouldn't trust maxdps that much. I know for mages particuarly that it is fairly out of whack. Check out Lhivera's spreadsheet (if you haven't already) for trinkets and general spec etc questions ( www.manoutoftime.org from memory). The best part about this is that it pulls info from your armoury and is therefore customised. elitistjerks.com (bless their nerdy math brains) also has oddles of info if you are willing to sift through pages (and pages) of nonsense to get to the good stuff. www.warcrafter.net (check out sandbox mode) lets you see your stats if you edit your gear. Its fantastic and also pulls your stats from armoury (as an aside it also works for under 70 chars).

Rawr - www.codeplex.com/Rawr.Net so intended for Windows and maybe Linux Awesome tool for planning your gear and seeing what replacing a piece of gear will do to your stats.
