Ten years have passed, since the mortal races banned together, and stood united playing WoW.
Hang on, who on earth hangs out at the guild forums a day after the launch of an expansion? Here's why.

Playing since late Vanilla, the only expansion launch I missed was BC. WOD launch for me, is by the far the worst experience of them all. I am not talking game play, I am talking about the launch experience itself. I haven't had enough game play to comment on it.
I love the festive feeling, all the guildies on Mumble, those racing to cap smack talking each other, everyone giddy with excitement, the inevitable over-prepped guy who peaked too soon on some sort of sugar and caffeine concoction, the other inevitable under-prepped guy who can't find his run speed potion realising he made 15 stacks of cast speed potions. All that wonderful stuff when everyone talks over one another moments before the launch, then the roaring cheer with the new content becoming available, followed by the deafening silence as everyone puts their game face on.
So, how did Blizzard unlearn the knowledge from their past experience to ruin this buzz for me (and many others I imagine)? With 10 years of experience and 4 expansions under their belt, what went wrong?
Here are some questions I would love to ask Blizzard, but they certainly won't answer, so I thought I'd post them here for entertainment value and to vent a bit of frustration.
What happened to the brilliant idea from WOTLK and Cata with their split starting zones? Effectively chopping population in half to ease congestion. Worked beautifully in WOTLK and would have worked just as well in Cata if Vash'jir didn't suck so bad. Still the prettiest zone in the whole game for me, but to quest in? No thanks.
Did Blizzard's technology hit 88 miles per hour and went back in time? WOTLK launch was at the peak of WoW's popularity with 12 million subscribers. The servers handled it back then, why are they falling over now? I remember lag when there's a big crowd, but certainly don't remember the servers doing face plants.
Invisible shields surrounding quest givers on Timeless Isle, brilliant idea, right? Let's scrap it for the new expansion, our playerss won't mind not being able to see/click them with thousands of people around. They won't mind the fact that we are aware of this issue and chose not to do anything about it even though we have the solution.
I hate to bring up the whole "I'm a paying customer...<insert self righteous comment here>", I just want to enjoy the buzz we only get to experience once every few years, instead I'm complaining about it to guildies here. Tsk tsk Blizzard....you were not prepared.
An upset Boom
