Telstra are bar****ds! We're changing phone/internet providers because they gave us a recycled business no. as our home phone number, which is still all over the internet!! So we've been getting constant calls because people think we're a beauty salon... And now that we've taken our business elsewhere they've cut the internet early, making out that SpinTel ownes it now so they can't do anything, you have to wait till they set it up. What a bunch of crap because Telstra ownes ALL the lines, Spin are even sending out a "Telstra technician" to do the change over... Anyway, I've had my bitch but now there's no internet at home, and Cj's still on holidays so no online for him! haha and he hardly visits the forums period so he wont notice me laughing Hopefully we're back online by weekend or I'll be crying too

A debacle with Internet Service Providers means I am off the air for a few days. Here's my story!
In early January, I had ADSL2 available, so I took the opportunity to look at alternative providers that would give me better service. TPG was hopeless, with constant DCs, no support and impossible to contact. So I decided to look at BigPond, who were reputed to be more solid and dependable, although with the same poor service you'd expect from Telstra. So I enquired, and chose their $50, 50Gb plan that was available if you had a Telstra landline (which we have). I signed up, and also signed a disconnection authorisation so that the churn process would be quick and easy.
Big mistake!
A couple of weeks later, BigPond send me an email stating that they had received my order (number #nnnnnnnn) but there would be a "delay."
By now, my TPG account had stabilised somewhat, but I thought I'd still be better off with BigPond, so I waited.
Fast forward to the end of February, and the Mrs gets two emails about the new service. The details were NOT what I ordered; an $80 ADSL account, not $50! The order number was also different. So I called their Customer Assistance line, but the guy could not give me any details, as I was NOT the account holder! It appears that the phone line is in the Mrs name, she is sitting next to me so I pass the phone to her. The guy confirms all the details, and informs her that the $50 account is only if you bundle landline, mobile and TV. Definitely NOT what is advertised on the BigPond web site!
So she CANCELS the account. She also asks that he CANCEL the order number that came with my first email.
Done!
Or was it?
Two days later, I get a SMS message telling me that my new ADSL account will be available on the 8th March!
WTF?
And yet ANOTHER different order number!
So the Mrs rings up, and CANCELS that order, too! She insists that they look up our account to ensure that there are no outstanding "orders" or anything, and he assures us that it's all clear.
Well, it was the 8th March yesterday, the Mrs birthday, and when I got home from work, no Internet.
Nada.
Zip.
So when the Mrs gets home, she rings BigPond, who says it has nothing to do with them. I ring TPG, and after battling with a broad Indian accent, she says that she has ordered an "investigation" and it should take 5 working days.
I am over these pr!cks, but you feel so helpless! I know this will end in tears and reconnection/disconnection/set-up fees, and I have signed nothing nor have I authorised anything. It's a joke, but I am crying!
This morning, I am going to look at Internode and see if they can hook me up straight away.
Concentrate your positive vibes my way, people.

Good luck man! I feel for you, I've also had my issues and I know what you mean about feeling powerless, the big companies just bend us over and... I eventually took Telstra to the TIO (Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman) because they too disconnected me suddenly, I was in the process of changing from Telstra to Spin. They got back to me pretty quickly after that complaint and even promissed no cancellation fees and I'd be reimbursed the last bill I paid because they still had the account bundled (phone & internet) and I paid it start of Jan (the phone changed over 31/12/10 but the internet was still waiting to be handed over approx. 14/1 - 17/1 so I thought I was doing the right thing by paying it) Wasn't alerted to the fact of what was going on till they disconnected my internet before the 14/1, and also when I phoned to complain they did the same thing, shrug, can't help you, your phones with another company, but MEANWHILE continued to keep the account open on their side as I then received a bill for it in Feb! How can they send you bills when they're not providing you with any services!!?? I thought I had won a small victory, but alas not really, still waiting for this cheque 3 weeks later, have phoned and they've said to keep waiting, I still receive bills, which I AGAIN have to phone THEM and remind them they said it was sorted so can they COMMUNICATE with what ever department and stop sending me bills!! And now our internet drops out often and it's the same line, I wont be surprised if there was a 'mistake' or 'dodgy' change over from Telstra as they were also delaying the change over, we just have to keep ringing and complaining till someone does something... Btw, Happy Birthday to the Mrs

This would have been a handy place to post last week - sorry about that. I've not signed up for anything this week as I'm not 100% sure I can make it. While my internet is fine, sorry to hear you are out of action Choco, I have some things at home to deal with, including the dreaded tax returns. It's likely I'll be around Thursday but well see. BTW thanks for the awesome run and achievements Friday night.

Choco, I recommend Internode. I've been with them for 6 years now and can only remember ever having one problem which they fixed very quickly. Even moving house a couple of times the '5 working days' line they give about the relocation never ended up being longer than a day

OK, I have signed up with Internode, they say 3 - 5 working days for a connection. So I won't be on until early next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I was watching TV with the Mrs last night. At about 8PM, she turned to me, did a double-take, and said "WTF are you doing here?" "No internet" I replied. She thought about it for a second and said "That explains the cold sweats, the shaking and mumbling. You're in the middle of WoW withdrawl, aren't you?" Of course, it was a rhetorical question, so I didn't answer. I just turned towards the TV, using the remote to pew-pew.

Well, Internode tried to connect me, but BigPond had their codes on my ADSL line (or something like that). Even though I have spent HOURS on the phone cancelling everything that BigPond could throw at me, they went ahead and churned my ADSL anyway. So now I have to wait while BigPond removes the codes, which could take another couple of days. In the meantime, I have bought an Elite Wireless BroadBand rechargable card, so I am on the internet for dailies and such. I doubt whether it would be suitable for raiding, but we'll see.

Hi Guys, Sorry we haven't been online at all this weekend, we've been prepping for our engagement party for a while now, and since Thursday have not even turned the pc's on because we've just been too busy so haven't left any msgs etc. We had an awesome time, Craig's family came down from NSW for it, they've just left a few hours ago. Craig's recovering from a hangover, he was not the only one, both dad's were stumbling all over the place and I'm recovering from the party as I've worked up the flu now Cya's sooner or later.

Suck's that you're not online but cool the engagement party went well. Must have been nice to have a break though, even if it was organizing a big event . I think everyone was a little less active this week.

Well, it's now 14 days without Internet, and the best I can hope for is to be back on line on Wednesday this week (23rd March). I tried running a random Heroic on my 3G pre-paid account, and it was unplayable. However, I have accumulated a nice stock of JC tokens!
Anyway, as soon as I am back on line, I'll let you know. In the meantime, please don't forget me!

Hi peoples,
I might bet online a limited amount of time over the next couple of weeks. I have a few things going on that will probably take me away from wow a bit. I'll still keep the applications/interviews up to date and will likely be there for raid times but just a heads up if you don't see me around as much.

That sucks man. I do however think you might not be telling the whole truth. Me thinks you pulled your back trying to 'pounce' on friends and colleagues. The doctor that told you to limit wow is probably real enough but he's likely from the school of Freud
